You are invited…

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our search for a new Priest-in-Charge with Intent to Convert. This is an exciting time for the Church of the Good Shepherd (COGS). All are welcome, and we hope you come visit us in Ruxton, Maryland.

Our congregation has high energy for growth. We are in transition and open to new ideas, activities, and connections. We are a thoughtful, compassionate community dedicated to making a difference within and beyond our church congregation. We have a strong partnership with our thriving Day School and a beautiful and well-maintained campus and rectory.

The top three qualities that we are seeking in a new Priest-in-Charge are

• a wonderful ability to consistently preach engaging and relatable sermons
• a welcoming nature with people of all ages and backgrounds
• able to connect well in teaching and interacting with children and youth and be able to help us rebuild our historically strong youth programs

Other important attributes are

• leadership skills to guide our overall growth strategy and inspire lay leaders
• a strong commitment to pastoral care
• organizational management with the ability to multitask, delegate, and recruit volunteers
• financial acumen to understand and work with the Vestry and Finance Committee in making important decisions regarding our budget and asset management
• charismatic personality to bring in new members and inspire deeper engagement with the congregation

In our 111 years as a church, we have had six Rectors. We love the warm, welcoming community here, talented choir and music, outreach to those in need, beautiful campus, and so much more.

We are open to God’s plan for our parish, and we graciously accept the need to change, learn, and adapt, so we can grow and continue to share God’s love and Christ’s message. We hope that you will consider leading us in the next chapter of our journey.
